Amazon EKS Cluster Setup#

This guide covers the prerequisites and cluster creation specific to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).

Prerequisites#

  1. Install AWS CLI

  2. Configure your AWS user account using the aws configure command. This user account must have permissions to work with Amazon EKS IAM roles, service-linked roles, AWS CloudFormation, and VPC resources.

  3. Install kubectl

  4. Install eksctl

  5. Install Helm3

Create the EKS Cluster#

eksctl create cluster --name janssen-cluster --nodegroup-name jans-nodes --node-type NODE_TYPE --nodes 2 --managed --region REGION_CODE

Replace NODE_TYPE with an instance type (for example: t3.xlarge, m5.large) and REGION_CODE with your AWS region (for example: us-east-1, eu-west-1). Adjust nodes as per your desired cluster size.

Install the EBS CSI Driver#

The EBS CSI driver requires an IAM role or ServiceAccount with appropriate permissions for EBS CSI operations. See the EBS CSI IAM role guide for setup instructions.

To attach volumes to your pods, install the Amazon EBS CSI driver.

Create the Janssen Namespace#

kubectl create namespace jans

Next Steps#

Proceed to Ingress Setup to configure traffic routing.
